Our family consists of my husband Wayne, myself and our 3 children...daughters, Melinda & Rebecca and son Matthew...We breed on a limited basis as we like to keep our numbers down so that we can have our shelties in and about the house as much as possible. When we do have a litter, our babies are born and raised in our home so that they are well socialized before they go to their new families. As we live in suburbia and have limited space we occasionally have adults available on a spay or neuter agreement.
I first met this delightful breed in the mid 1970's when attending the Sydney Royal Easter Show with our Collies and we were hooked. We purchased our first sheltie Dancerwood Don Paco CDX 'Ben' in 1979 and he became my constant companion for nearly 17yrs.
In 1996 after losing both 'Ben' and his mate 'Kody' Multi BIS,BISS Aust Ch. Glendallo Golden Shades (my favourite collie) within 2 weeks of each other, I decided to concentrate solely on my gorgeous shelties, even though we still had two lovely blue merle collies, BIS/BISS Aust Ch. Cathkin Petticoats Aflyn (co-owned by Rebecca and G.Jones) and her only & very special son, the future BISS/RUBISS Aust Ch. Cathkin Wintertainment (owned by Rebecca). (Both have now also crossed over the bridge)
We have been lucky enough to have owned and/or Bred 25 Champions .7 collie rough Champions,4 of who were Best in Show winners including **BEST EXHIBIT in SHOW** at 1987 Collie National,18 Shetland Sheepdog Champion/Obedience titles, 4 of who are Best in Show winners.
2002.....Saw us start a new phase in Shelties with the importation of 'Can Ch. GrandGables Zulu Warrior' "Impy" from the world famous 'GrandGables Kennels' in Canada. We are VERY grateful to Guy & Mark for allowing this lovely sheltie to join our family.
2006....we also had the pleasure of importing another gorgeous sheltie "Dawnville Ashes In The Wind" from Marcella Koenen "Dawnville Shelties" in The Netherlands.. another decision we do not regret, even though I know how very hard it was for Marcella to let 'Aspen' go!
2012......We have just welcomed another beautiful blue girl into our family 'Apple Acres Winter's Eve' from Locklyn Guzman 'Apple Acres shelties' in USA. We are hoping that she will help us continue on the path we started 10yrs ago with Impy.
2015.....We added two new members to our sheltie family from our good friend Marcella...NDL jn Ch. Dawnville No Assembly Needed 'Nova'and Dawnville Picking Daisies 'Lily'
Our youngest daughter Rebecca has been very successful in her own right along with the Collies she handled for us she has done extremely well with her chosen breeds showing 6 American Cocker Spaniels & 2 whippets through to their Australian Championship including Aust Gd Ch. Merriyank Black Ina Flash 'Kaos' who was her favourite dog in the world became a Grand Champion and a Multiple Best In Show winner...She is now showing Whippets and is having some success with them.
2016.....After much soul searching and finally admitting to myself that my body can no longer cope with grooming and handling so many shelties, I have made the heart wrenching decision to cut back on how many I own .....saying goodbye to some of my special kids was quite difficult but I know it was the right decision for them, I will never be able to thank my good friend Marcella for her and Vincent's understanding of my decision and welcoming her beautiful girls 'Nova' & 'Lily' home with open arms, I will watching their life journey from afar.....And it is also so comforting to see that all but two (who will stay with me) of my other 'Kids' have found their forever families to love!
I will always have a sheltie or two or even three as part of my family and maybe even breed the odd litter and hopefully we will one day (with Rebecca's help) have a lovely young hopeful to show and carry on with but until then, so that I can still enjoy going along to shows with Rebecca, I have added a couple of tiny new members to our small doggy family ..In June we welcomed Sparklechi Grand Finale "Finlay" (Chihuahua long coat) and then in June 2017 she was joined by Cairford Devils Playground "Damon" (Chihuahua long coat)
